BirdScribe is voice-first bird logging. Speak your sighting and it transcribes what you say, suggests the species, GPS-tags the record, and exports a valid eBird checklist. You confirm every bird. Free, works offline, no account.
How it works
- Tap Record and speak your sighting. Hear a song instead? Say "sound bite" and record the bird itself.
- BirdScribe suggests the species and GPS-tags the record. You confirm with a tap; nothing goes on your list without you.
- Export a valid eBird checklist in one tap.
Built for the field
Bird song ID
Record a sound bite and BirdScribe suggests the species, matched to your region by GPS. You confirm the ID, and a heard-only bird goes into the checklist the way eBird expects.
Pocket Mode
Arm it and pocket the phone screen-on. Stray touches are ignored, the screen stays awake, and your headset button still starts a recording. Eyes up the whole walk.
Nothing gets lost
Voice notes for the trip diary stay private on your phone. If the app is interrupted mid-session, it offers to pick up right where you stopped, birds intact. Every trip ends with a summary and a pin map of your sightings.
eBird-ready export
One tap builds an eBird CSV with species names checked against eBird's taxonomy before the file is written. Proven against real eBird imports, not just the spec.

Help shape BirdScribe
BirdScribe is built in the field and shaped by tester feedback. iPhone and Android testers are equally welcome. Android is coming very soon, so Android testers get in on the ground floor.
